Microsoft ActiveX Update Potentially Affects Websites
Recent update to ActiveX controls limits interactivity with embedded objects

For more information regarding the ActiveX update is available by consulting e-Week.

CHARLOTTE, NC. - April 25, 2006 – Microsoft recently announced an update to ActiveX controls that could affect business websites. This update prevents users from automatically interacting with objects embedded in websites such as movies using Macromedia Flash, QuickTime, or Media Player. This update is in response to a patent conflict with Eolas Technologies under scrutiny since 2004. Microsoft issued this update as a workaround for the patent conflict. The workaround solution affects methods for embedding content involving Microsoft’s Internet Explorer. For additional professional feedback regarding the effect of this update, please contact Russ Husky, Chief Information Officer for CC Communications at 704-543-1171, extension 110. Kip Cozart, President of CC Communications is also available for comment at 704-543-1171, extension 112.
